Model: Archer AX1500
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.4 Build 10130220 Rel. 71494

I would like to go directly from my modem (Spectrum) to the Archer AX1500, then use a cat 5/6 wire to the main router in the house.     When I have the main router connected directly to the modem, my speed tests at ~450 MBPS.   When I connect the AX1500 to the modem and the main router to the AX1500 via wired connection, my speed drops to 95 MBPS.   This suggests it's acting like a FAST connection rather than a GIGABITE ethernet connection.

Is there a setting or other change I can make to include the AX1500 in the stream without taking my rates down by ~5X?.

I'm adding this router so I can include a UPS for the modem, a router (the 1500) and a wifi based sensor that will text when it detects a relay opening.

Thanks,

Paul

  @SpeakerGuy

You probably encountered a LAN negotiation issue, try the below suggestions:
1. Login to the web UI of the Archer AX1500 and go to the Basic-Network map page, click the Archer AX1500 image/icon and scroll down this page, you will see the ethernet negotiation speed of the WAN/LAN ports, check the following FAQ:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2472/
2. Go to Advanced-system tools-system parameters to edit the duplex, change it to 1000Mbps full-duplex.
3. After that, test the negotiation speed again and if the issue persists, It is strongly recommended to use another cat5e or cat6 cable.

If this was helpful click on the arrow pointing upward to make it blue. If this solves your issue, click the star to make it blue and mark the post as a "Recommended Solution".

  @SpeakerGuy cat 5 will give you 100 where cat 5e or cat 6 will give you faster speeds. A bad cable can also give you slower speeds.
