There are two lan/wan connections on the back of this router.  Supposedly I have a 5gig service from my ISP, but that is wan speed.  The jack says lan/wan.  What difference in reality does each connector make????  What will be impacted by what I pick?  Documentation on this seems impossible to find.

  @JimmyChristmas

Page 9 of The user guide for that router recommends to use the 2.5 as the WAN port.

  @JimmyChristmas

What router model do you have?

The higher speed ethernet port is for the WAN that is from your modem (ISP). The others are for your devices (LAN). Some routers may have multiple WAN ports for those that have multiple connections to isp.

f85dd9b282924e36a7536f1773ae5af9  @ArcherC8  It is the AXE95/AXE7800   There are two WAN ports and four LAN ports.  I know the difference, but the WAN ports are both marked as WAN/LAN but they also have a Gbps number with them one as 1 and the other is 2.5.  My confusion is what do those two number differentiate.  Are those pass thru numbers or capacity numbers for only the WAN or only the LAN.  Supposedly I have 5gps speed from my ISP thru my cable modem.  If I plug into the 1gps from my modem am I giving up a higher potential speed?  What is the impact of picking one port over another.  I have looked in the manual and could not find anything and I have tried searching on the web support page, but to no avail.
