Access Denied on a few sites.

Model: Archer AX 1800

Lately I have been getting "Access Denied" on some "securehttps" websites like: HomeDepot / Lowes / Expedia. Instead it seems to try yo load the "nonsecurehttp" versions instead. All of a sudden they are not loading and giving access denied messages. Sites work if I by bass router and connect direct to cable modem. TP Link support assisted for over 30 minutes and finally had me do a factory reset of modem (which of course severed my connection to the support session) but still have same issues. This started out of nowhere and there were no recent router updates or anything.

Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "homedepot" on this server.
Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "lowes" on this server.

Have done ALL the usual clearing fo cache, different browser, etc.

Are you running a VPN as that is known to have this issue.

Did this issue ever get resolved?  I'm having the same problem with Costco, Lowes, and, ect.  TP-Link support suggested I perform a MAC Address clone, and it worked at first, but I had a power flicker which caused the modem and router to reboot, which restored the default MAC Address.  So, MAC Address cloning is just a temporary fix.  I'm using an AX11000 router and have not been happy since it was first purchased...one issue after another, plus my wi-fi speed is about half of what it should be when my laptop is only a few feet away.

@Lv2flyva I have tried everything! Spent over 30 minutes with TP support and they finally suggested I do a factory reset on modem. I asked how I would get reconnected with him (TP tech) and he said session would reconnect once Internet was back online, NOPE. This HAS to be a TP Link issue. If I take router out of the equation by plugging cable modem directly into laptop, on issues!

I also came accross some saying those sites aggressively block system with things like shopping (better price) browser plugins. None on my system. Not the VPN issue either as none in use at time and even completly uninstalled the one I use for work, same issues.

Think I'll be buying a new (non-TP Link) router soon! If you have and luck please let me know.

Thanks, Mike

Re:Access Denied on a few secure sites. Goes to non-sure instead - FIXED!

@Lv2flyva After tons of searching, I came across the suggestion to turn on MAC cloning on the router. It fixed the issue with Lowe's and similar sites saying access denied. Was easy to do but did have to reboot cable modem and router a couple of times to get it to re-sync. Can't say what caused issue to start with but this fixed it. TP Link support needs to note this! Hope this helps everyone else as well!

Yes, I had already tried the MAC cloning solution and it worked at first, but after a power flicker, it stop working.  Perhaps, I should have tried to reboot modem a couple more times.  Also, I changed the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4....so far, everything appears to be working fine.

@Lv2flyva just want to say this also worked for me. I have the Deco X60 and was getting "access denied" on a number of sites. I used the MAC Clone function and selected a workstation on the network. I then pulled the power cables on the modem and router for 30 seconds. After rebooting, everything on the network could once again access Lowe's, Home Depot and a handful of other sites.

Very frustrating issue! Before finding the MAC clone fix, I swapped in an older router, which functioned normally, and tried plugging a laptop straight into the cable modem, which also functioned normally. All of this leads me to believe that the Deco is the offender in the stack.

Would love to hear some messaging from TP-Link on the issue.

  @NeilFields

This issue continues to recur for me. I would change the Mac clone address and the problem would go away but it would then come back. I then actually swapped which deco mesh router was the main router and that fixed the problem for a week or two. At the same time I reset my phone back to the factory state. Not sure which did more to help with problem.  The problem did end up coming back though.

I continue to try to narrow down the problem. Next steps are to reset the firmware on The Deco routers from a PC.  If that doesn't work, I'm going to set both our phones back to the factory State and try that again.

Does anyone have complete success for a month or more fixing the issue?
