Model: Deco XE75 Pro
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I recently bought a Deco XE75 Pro. It seems great except that local DNS resolution will only intermittently work. In the app, I see that the Decos know the name of all the computers on the network so that's not the issue. This is a basic function that has worked on every single other router I've ever used. From other posts in the forum about older models it seems like this is a glaring omission from the Deco's firmware. If $20 router manufacturers can figure this out, how come TP Link think they can charge an order of magnitude more and not implement local DNS resolution?

  @TheInternet

If, by "local DNS resolution", you mean "resolution of local names by the DNS server of the Deco", I believe it never works.

Resolution of local names is usually not done via DNS, but by local protocols such as bonjour or netbios.
