Wrong security type specified on box

I bought the Archer C54 due partly because it says on the front of the box "Advanced Security with WPA3. However, I'm only seeing that it has WPA2-Personal as it's security protocol. The instruction manual doesn't specify either way, but my on-screen info. shows WPA2-Personal. Is there some sort of update I can get that will enable me to actually have the WPA3 security that the manufacturer advertised on the packaging?

It might be that your laptop wireless card doesn't support WPA3.
If your laptop wireless card is made by Intel - check this support article.
Open a Windows command prompt and execute the following command:
netsh wlan show drivers
Search for the WPA3 in the output of that command.
If you can't find WPA3 in this output then your wireless card doesn't support it.

WPA3 (Wi-Fi Protected Access 3) concerns only wireless connections.
Obviously your laptop wireless card doesn't support WPA3, your best bet is WPA2-PSK [AES} option for wireless connections.

The user guide does not show WPA3 but TP Link's web site spec page does show WPA3. If it were me, with both the box and web site wrong, I would return it.

Isn't there some sort of firmware update somewhere that could give it the WPA3? It seems that everything has updates from the manufacturer to keep things current. Do routers have such updates?

There are firmware updates for this router but none of them indicate anything about WPA3.
Be sure you are up to date.

Thank you. I think I'll just make up a longer and more complicated password. That should do the trick.
BTW, I found a firmware update but I'm not sure if it's newer than what the router already has installed. I downloaded it as a zip file

Archer C54 is indeed in the list of TP-Link wireless routers that support WPA3 - details.
Latest FW release for Archer C54 is Archer C54(US)_V1_1.12.20 Build 230608
You can easily check what's your current FW release in the router WebGUI:
When upgrading FW, unzip the downloaded file and use the bin file.

Ok, thank you! I did the firmware update, but nothing seems to have changed. Still have WPA2-Personal for my security for some reason. Looks like I'm stuck with that. Would my security with WPA2 be sufficient if my password is long and complicated enough?
Also, are you sure about the version number of the update you gave me? It seems to indicate Version 1 (V1), but on the box mine came in, it says 1.6

Obviously the question about WPA3 implementation in Archer C54 has to be addressed by a TP-Link represenatative.
Regarding HW version:
"IMPORTANT: Model and hardware version availability varies by region. Please refer to your TP-Link regional website to determine product availability.
Vx.0=Vx.6/Vx.8/Vx.9(eg:V1.0=V1.6/V1.8/V1.9) "
So you should be fine with the FW for HW v1 from your regional support portal.
Regarding wireless security and encryption select WPA2-PSK/AES for maximum security with the current FW release. A srtrong password is advisable.

Well, whether or not it was the firmware update, my router no longer works. It takes several minutes to get connected, and then disconnects every time I turn on a browser, whether it be Chrome or Edge. I used bleach bit to do a cleaning of my system in case there was something there causing the problem, but my Wi-Fi router just isn't working anymore. I now have it connected to the Internet using that Ethernet cable. I don't understand why these products just don't work. It worked for several hours after the firmware update, so I really doubt that's the issue.
Oh well, at least using the ethernet cable eliminates the need to have a long password to be secure. I just won't be able to stream TV anymore.

Is that done by pressing and holding the small button on the back of the router until it turns off? I did that, and I had to set up the router ID and password again. It didn't help.
Also, I reconnected my Wi-Fi router to try again, and it connected for about 15 seconds, then disconnected. Then it reconnected for about the same amount of time again and disconnected again. It did this three times while I was just sitting here watching it happen. there's obviously something wrong with this thing. I now have an eternet cable connected between the router and laptop. That's how I'm online now. I've been trying to connect again using Wi-Fi, but now in my list of Wi-Fi access points, I see that mine no longer has a padlock symbol next to it, but rather an X. When I click on my own access point and enter my password, I get an error message saying that I cannot connect to this network. It seems that I'm locked out of my own Wi-fi. Is there a way to unlock it?
