Extending Deco mesh (XE75) from house to nearby (150ft) barn wirelessly.
I tried to add a new node insdide my metal roofed barn, but the signal is not strong enough.
Plan A: Bought a single X50 to mount on the porch of the house, connected back to my Main node via CAT6. Signal is strong to the side of the barn facing the house, but not strong enough to add another XE75Pro inside the barn.
Plan B: Bought two CPE210s to create a Point-to-Point bridge from the outside of the house to the outside of the barn, using CAT6 on both ends penetrating walls to extend the mesh to the inside of the barn. Now that I am looking at the PharOS setup instructions in thr CPE210 installation guide, I have several questions:
I see several DISADVANTAGES to the CPE210 bridge just from reading the instructions but maybe I am wrong about any or all of f these:
- I have to download PharOS to my computer and assign it a static IP
- The computer is shown as a permanent part of the net topology but maybe it is only needed for setup?
- I have to create a new SSID for the P2P network.
- Perhaps DCHP from my house mesh will not extend across that sub-network?
- I have to align the antennae
- The CPE units are rated at just 300Mbps (my rural county just got fiber thanks to the post-COVID infrastructure bill*)
Plan C?:
Wouldn't it be easier and better to return the two CPE210s, and just purchase a second x50 fort the barn that would have a mesh connection to the one outside the house?
