Need a good 5g signal outside for wireless security cameras.

My 2.5 year old ax55 router doesn't show if I'm on 2.4 or 5g and I'm not sure if I'm getting good signal to my existing Wyze/ eufy security cameras, computers working fine. I'm currently traveling which makes it worse for checking things out but I'm thinking the router isn't working well. Just had spectrum out to check system since my daughter said she had tv but no WiFi and they corrected some issues. Our Spectrum just updated our supplied speeds can't remember the number but it's way up there. Also, I  just ordered new Reolink WiFi cameras that operate on 2.4, 5/6 speeds.
So, what's my best bet, get a extender for the cameras, front and rear, a new upgraded router, a mesh system.
Suggestions appreciated especially with specific models in moderate price range. I would like to buy something during cyber Monday sales if necessary. Thanks for reading

I like to keep things simple and use just a router connected to the modem. The more wifi signals in the area the slower things run. If you need more coverage in just one spot, then I would and have used an extender. If need in multiple areas, then a mesh system may be needed.

I use to use an extender but when I upgraded my router, I found I can connect my wyze cameras without it so I no longer use it. If you have an nvr, connect it via ethernet.

As I recall my wyze cams work only on the 2.4 ghz but they are older models. The 2.4 will have better range and the cameras do not use a lot of band width.

I put all my iot stuff on the  2.4 and my pcs, phones, and tablets on the 5 ghz. I have over 30 devices with  xfinity 300 service including one pc that displays 10 cameras on my ethernet connected nvr 24/7 over wifi. My router is wifi 6 router but if I was to replace it I would go wifi 6E or wifi 7 mostly for future proof it.

I use separate ssids so I can control what is on each band.
