C5400 when I have the problem I am not able to see the 2.4 wifi in any of the devices. Channel shows as N/A in web interface and I don't have any problem with the 5 Ghz wifi. Only way to get the 2.4 back is by restarting the router. It will work for a couple of days and then the 2.4 disappears from the SSid list
I have set a fixed channel for 2.4. Smart connect is off. Any suggestion to get the 2.4 to work reliably.

Just performed the upgrade, nothing special. Good luck.digitalintruder wrote
That's good to hear. I ended up RMA'ing the one that seemed to break - then upgraded to 1.2.0 Build 20170630 rel.49653(5553) (without skipping any versions in between -- and following the directions of each upgrade to the letter). It's working like a champ so far - but I'm worried about the version you upgraded to. Any special steps - or did you just upgrade to the lastest version as soon as you got it?

So I'm having the same issue as it seems most in the thread are having. First router was working great until it updated to the new firmware. Signal bands stopped working after about a month or 2. I lost 5g-2 and 2.4 was running super slow. E-mailed TP and did an RMA not knowing it was firmware at first. Got the new unit and stupidly updated the router before doing anything else and have the same issues. 5g-2 is super slow (20~30 mbps on a 1Gig line), I'm going to try and rollback to the old firmware. I wish TP would pull the new firmware or at least say something about it being busted. I'd really like to be able to use the new features.

Yes, you must read the forums before upgrading any TP-LINK router. Firmware "support" is just horrible.

Same problem here. Login page is very slow and the 2.4 ghz is off line. Everything was working great until I upgraded. Any fix for this or do I have to return this router?
Not clear sure the problem. You may try to contact the support directly. It seems many people just have an RMA

The best part is that their support seems to not know there is a problem at all. After the first RMA I documented everything that I did and keep speed test results. You can see as soon as the newer FW is applied everything takes a hard dive. Something that support said would not happen. My mistake trusting them. Rolling back the FW seems to have fixed the issues I was having, but now I've lost out on features that were the reason I bought the router for. Seems like a waste of money.

How can RMA the device work if its a firmware issue?

I don't think this is a firmware issue. My C5400 lasted about 20 days before it failed. I was using the latest firmware on it. The 2.4GHz side just went away, but the 5.8GHz worked. I got a new one through Amazon and immediately updated the firmware to the latest version. The new C5400 has been fine for the last 3 months now. I think this is a quality control issue, and it appears that the failure rate is higher than expected.
