Bandwidth Usage by Device
I've got a Xfinity > motorola arris surfboard SB6141 > M9 Plus.
Since connection I have exceeded 1024GB bandwidth limit for 2 months running.
Next month I am going to get charged ($200 per month!).
So I need to understand bandwidth usage by device to identoify and manage the bandwidth sucks.
Xfinity won't give me an bandwidth information beyond total usage per month (not even daily which would be handy since not everyon that lives in my house is here every day). On my last call they told me that they only collected monthly data but could not explain how they do that without aggregating daily data for months that have different numbers of days. I know for a fact that they pull all the MAC addresses and use that data to link mulitple devices to single user profiles for advertising purposes so it's frustrating that the customer that is generating that data is not privy to the information but that's probably something for another forum.
TP Link have explained that I can get device connection stats only not bandwidth information.
I dont even seem to be able to get total monthly data usage from Deco to compare with Xfinity.
It seems like TP Link should be able to add to the monthlhy report. So I am tempted to pay $50 per month and go unlimited until that happens - but does anyone know if there is a reason why not or if this is on a dev list somewhere?
Or I need to put some hardware between my modem and Deco. Does anyone know a cheap and easy solution I am generally a mac house and could probably crank up an old unsed one if that didn't slow things down.
Or I am looking at firewall devices like Firewalla but that seems like I am buying something that is highly duplicative to what I thought I was getting with Deco.
Any thoughts or ideas on how I solves this as unchecked it's going to cost an extra $200 per month.

I purchased an M9 Plus 3-pack about 2 months ago to replace an aging LinkSys router and the results have been spectacular so far. I do like a lot of the features of the app as well but the bandwidth usage in the monthly report should be a "must have" on the feature list. The current monthly report is not very useful at all other than possibly the antivirus history pointer.
If at all possible please include this feature as soon as you can.
Thanks!!

Was just notified by my ISP that their upstream provider is now limiting all customers to 400 GB per month, and it's up to me to monitor our usage to make sure we don't go over. If/when we do, the service will be instantly cut and reset the following paycycle. I'm in a household of 5 and apparently my Deco M5 isn't capturing bandwidth usage? This won't end well for us, I'm sure.

@saran I chatted with tech support yesterday and they said that it was going to be coming out in an update very soon.

@bigyin Just followed up with TP link and seems like the request has been forwarded to their Senior engineers. They cannot provide a date when the feature will be available

Yeah, I've had it about a week. There was ZERO bandwidth info from the monthly report, just a graph of how many devices were connected per day.
I was expecting much finer grained control and monitoring especially for this price.
SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING RETURNING THIS.

+1 following, not sure how a feature like this cannot be implemented faster, i see several posts about this for the deco line in the past year, TP link?? Crickets?

+1 need this solution added for x60
Currently using x60 as AP with existing ddwrt router and YAMON as a data monitor tool. Works well, but would rather an integrated solution.

Is there any update on getting usage reports? There are ISP data caps being implemented on millions of more customers in 2021. This is ESSENTIAL reporting.

Here we are at the end of 2020 with X series devices and this feature is still glaringly missing.
The monthly report is still utterly useless and basic bandwidth management of viewing what is a data hog on the network is not possible.
I'm ready to throw in the towel and get a different solution.
TP Link, just build this feature already! Are you here? Are you listening?
