Yes, if manual operation does not work then something went wrong with the installtaion (wires).

Can something be wrong with the wires that would allow the switch to work via the app (controlling it by WiFi or Alexa), but not manually?  Mine works fine remotely, but not when I'm in front of it pushing on the switch physically.  I've checked and yanked on all the wires and everything seems solid.  Can it operate via WiFi properly when the wiring is wrong?

In that case, I think it is a hardware issue internally of the switch.

I have a similar problem, I can communicate with the Kasa app but the lights don't work manually or through the app.  Switch looks like they turn on and off.
