HS220 - update failed
Just bought HS220 dimmer "open box" from Amazon. Installed, went through original setup , had to reset it twice for some reason. Now it says that update is available but failed to install it without any reasonable explanation. Is it a problem with my dimmer, my android app or with TPLink update server?

Try downloading this utility that will update your smart switch: https://static.tp-link.com/2019/201912/20191213/Upgrade Instruction.zip
When you extract the file, the instructions will be in the directory. You will need a Windows or Mac computer.
Once you are done, you may still need to update the firmware during the Kasa setup.

Update utility works, sort of . It updated my switch firmware to version 1.5.8. Kasa shows the latest available firmware is 1.5.11 and still failed updating. Desktop utility said that the latest version is 1.5.8 and I'm on the latest version.

I tried upgrading wiith the mobile app and with the tool in Windows and both failed.
In the mobile app I just get a "try again later" message.
In the tool I get "Upgrade fail -- Download status is 6".

@Tony I tried what you suggested but my dimmer (HS220 v 3.8) in the US is stuck on firmware version 1.03. When I use the tool listed above it gives an error "Upgrade Failed" and shows "Unknown device type"..
Utlitmately I'm trying to get dimming to work via the Alexa app (Kasa Skill) and it's not. I can turn the switch on and off through Alexa, but dimming does not work. The first recommendation is to update the firmware which is not working. Thanks for the help.
