Deco M9 firmware update through app
Deco M9 firmware update through app
Hi,
I bought the Deco M9 plus for my non-tech savvy in laws a few months ago. I've asked them to check for firmware updates through the iphone app, but the app says everything is up to date despite having an old firmware version (1.2.12). I see on the support website that there's been 2 firmware updates for the M9 since june 2020. When are these updates going to be available in the iphone app?

@somzuth : I'm having the same issue. Deco app is not updating the decos to the latest firmware version per mentioned on - https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/deco-m9-plus/#Firmware.
Even trying to use upgrade utility seem to be buggy and not working in Windows 10. Keeps saying id/password is incorrect.

Once a firmware update has been released, I can't imagine that it's much work to allow the iPhone app to use it. A previous post here indicated that updates are made available at different times but taking no more than 2 weeks. Here we are months after they're available and still nothing.

In order to get from 1.2.x to 1.4.0 you will need to use a utility below. This method is needed as the browser access is not enabled in 1.2.x. After this update, you would not need to use this utility again.
Here is a link to the firmware: link
After you extract the folder there will be a pdf with screenshot instructions on how to update it.
If you are having trouble logging into the Deco via the utility, use this utility instead:

@Tony : Thanks for your reply.
I'm having issue while login in to the Utility that I've downloaded from the https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/deco-m9-plus/#Utility. I did try the link you've provided in your reply. I'm having the same login issue. Any idea if I'm missing anything here. BTW, I'm trying in Windows 10.

Thanks for the information but is there any reason why the iPhone app can't be used to update the firmware?

@Tony : I did try the link from the bottom of your first post. I'm having the same login issue using that utility.
FYI this is the URL from your first post I've tried: https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202007/20200715/M9Plus_2.0_upgrade_tool_v1.1.1_Windows.zip

If you go here: www.tplinkcloud.com
Log in with the same email and password you were giving the utility do you log in? Or does it say there is an error? The site is to verify the credentials are correct.
If the login is successful, do you happen to have other computers you can try to use the utility?

@Tony Just tried the credentials I was trying in Utility before, it did work on www.tplinkcloud.com and I was able to login successfully.
Unfortunately, I don't have another computer to try the utility on.
