HS220 v2 Problem
HS220 v2 Problem
Hi. I have 4-5 HS220v1 throughout my house which work great.
I just bought a new batch and it seems that the V2 versions (firmware 1.0.3) keep restarting themselves every 30 seconds. I have even tried moving them to the locations where my old v1 HS220's are working and the problem persists.
The V2 switches also have a lot of trouble finding Wi-Fi and just overall seem very buggy.
The rebooting issue only happens once we get past the WI-FI connection part of setup. After that, I'm lucky to even be able to get past the naming. When the dimming calibration comes, the device becomes unresponsive again and continues to reboot every 30 seconds.
After rebooting, the switch can only be controlled for about 2-3 seconds (manually) and then it just hangs (unresponsive) til the next reboot cycle.
This is the second thread I'm starting about this rebooting issue. Please help!

Someone from our support team should be reaching out to you soon.
Here are our the different support avenues we have if you need immediate support:
Chat: link (US Support Team, but should still be able to assist)
E-mail: support.ca@tp-link.com
Call Back: link
In the meantime use a different smartphone as that has caused issues installing smart devices, may seem odd but in the current instance would be worth trying.
Check to make sure the phone being used does not have a VPN connection enabled which it may not have when the v1s were installed.
When resetting the v2 switches do a complete factory reset by holding the reset for 10 seconds, only holding for 5 seconds will just reset the Wi-Fi settings, not the actual configuration software.

So I was able to make some progress.
I disconnected our new ASUS router and reconnected my old router. I was able to successfully connect to my old router with the v2 switches.
When I paired to the old router, I set the SSID and password to the same as the new router. All good.
When I switch off the Old router and turn on the new router, the v2 switches start their rebooting cycle again.
This leads me to believe that these switches are incompatible with the ASUS router (AX11000). Which is weird because the v1 switches have no issues with the ASUS router.
Are there any ports that I can unblock on the ASUS router?

Thank you for the bit of information, it does sound like something is incompatible.
Your case was sent to our engineers so it looks like they want to reach out to you directly. The person's name should be Cherry. I will let them know about the router swap that you found.

I'm having the exact same issue. Several V1s in my house working fine and 2 new HS220 V2 with Fw 1.0.3 constant rebooting. I triple checked my wiring. was going crazy and glad i checked out support. chatting with support right now. I have TP-Link EAP 245 Wireless APs managed by omada connecting to a TP Link 8 port POE switch.

I have a HS220 V1 with firmware 1.5.11 Build 200214 Rel.152651 and I am also experiencing the issue of the device resetting every 30 seconds. This is not about compatability between a Kasa device and a router's wifi. If I configure the Kasa device within 30 seconds after doing a factory reset it works fine. If I wait longer than 30 seconds, the SSID of the Kasa device disappears and I cannot complete its registration.

@bmbouter are you running a homebridge server? Homebridge is a server to bridge alexa only devices with homekit. If not that, i read some TVs on the network may cause an issue. try unplugging any TVs and try again.

@bmbouter we had the same issue. I ended up using an older router with the same SSID to pair the devices.
once paired, I disconnected the old router and put the original one back on and it works.

i thought I saw a post somewhere a while ago about a setting on a router that caused issues for the v2 dimmers and not the v1, but i can't remember exactly what it was... sorry i wish i could be of more help. It was a networking setting, maybe spanning tree...

Having same reset problem with 3 new HS220s V2.0 FW:1.0.5 bought from Amazon in late November and just able to install yesterday. Noticed that ALL three continually reset (turning switched lights ON/OFF with amber and multiple green signal lights) when I turn ON my Samsung TV (Model UN55NU800D). Have other HS200 and HS210 switches with no problems. Have two other Samsung TVs (Models: UN43NU6950 & UN50KU6300F) that DO NOT inflict the same issue on the HS220s. Please advise regarding fix.

If there is a guest network option on the router enable that and connect the v2 devices to that to see if they all still are rebooting.
