Hello,
I have an upstairs switch and a downstairs switch. I removed the downstairs one completely leaving only the wires with wire connectors on them.. Then Iput the new HS220 upstairs. My problem is I can not turn the light off now from the new switch.
Do I need to have a switch upstairs and downstairs or is there a way to close the circuit?

Did the switch upstairs and the switch downstairs originally control one light?
If yes, I am afraid your orginal upstairs switch and downstairs switch are three way switch. But HS220 is two way switch which can't be installed in the three way circuit. I think maybe this is the reason why HS220 can not work.
