NEVER MIND.  The method for setting up the switch has changed.  The phone must first be on your WiFi connection before starting the app doing the setup.  Concerning, makes me wonder what information TP-LINK is storing on their servers.

HS200 Hardware Version 5 Firmware Version 1.0.6  (One the box is states Version 5.8)

 

Just purchased a HS200 to replace a dead Insteon switch.

 

Attempted to setup for LOCAL ONLY use but was unsuccessful.

 

1. Installed Switch.

 

2. Connected my iPhone to the switch WiFi.

 

3. Started Kasa app.

 

4. Searched for the HS200 switch.

 

5. Added the switch.

 

Was never given the option to enter my local WiFi name or its password.

 

Have setup a couple Kasa Smart Plugs in the past for LOCAL ONLY and did not have these issues.

 

I have deleted the switch several times as well as reset the switch.

 

I am lost on what to do at this point other than to return it.

 

Before I pull any more hair out and waste any more time with TP-LINK chat can someone on this forum help me?
