Hello,

I have been comparing power consumption of the different switches and cameras in standby and this is what i got

Single outlet switch (KP100):  0.6w w/h

3 outlet power strip (KP300):  0.43w w/h

5 outlet power strip: (HS300): 0.45w w/h

Security camera (KC410s)): 1.44 w/

As you can see security camera on standby (meaning it is set as power off in the app, not recording) is using way more electricity than a power strip.

Taking into consideration that in standby all devices should just bee having wifi on, why is the security camera (when powered off) spending 3 times more energy than other TP link devices?

  @uri200,

So the Specifications for the KC410S does not actually include a standby power specification, I would assume that this means that there was no designed standby mode for the camera

As a result, it is impossible to actually put the device into a standby mode, rather you are simply disabling the sensors and cameras. The network connection will still remain active and is most likely the source of the increased power draw.

  @Riley_S thanks for the reply.

That is right. I was doing the test with the camera enabled too and it was using the same power . So the turn of button only disables the camera functions , but it does not put the camera in standby.

It would be good to consider that functionality for future hardware releases. If you have multiple cameras , this starts to add up quickly.

Note that one of the good things from other kasa devices is the low consumption they have on standby.
