OMG it took a BAZILLION tries to connect two smart switches to my Wifi? Why?
I had panic enough wondering if I'd wired everything correctly, but everything wired okay.
I installed two Kasa Smart Switches side by side. I tried to set up the HS200 first through the app. It continually failed to connect to my wifi. I reset it, rebooted the router node (I have a TP-Link mesh so I didn't need to reboot all three stations), rebooted the smart switch TWICE, and restarted the app at least once. There is good wifi signal where the switches are located, and only three other clients on that particular TP-Link node. I've read / viewed instructions on setting up the Kasa device at least 10 times, so I followed it to the letter. After the 8th try, it connected and Kasa recognized the device. I think I restarted the app at least three times during the process as well, BTW.
So, I then went to set up the HS210. Same process. It finally connected. The only thing I noticed that I didn't see in any of the instructions this pop-up message that said "Allow Kasa to connect to a temporary network?" After allowing it and going back and forth to see if it would take my wifi password, it finally connected as well. Did this have something to do with it?
I have two other smart switches I'd like to install. I would prefer not to go through the hit and miss of setting these other devices up. I know my wifi's good, and apparently I wired the switches correctly. What was the issue / problem I can avoid so I have a smooth set up? As mentioned, they're connected now, but I don't know why they didn't connect in the first place. Thank you.
