  @Sunshine  I don't know if I'm alone in this but I continue to have issues with the 5G band on my mesh extender. When I'm close to the main router, I haven't had issues since the new firmware but when my connection switches to the extender, it's still constantly loosing the 5G band. It's an RE500x with the latest firmware 1.0.4 Build 20210611 Rel. 180628.

I don't know how the mesh systems work together and if this is something unrelated but it's frustrating and has been going on for a while now. This was supposedly a "factory renewed" product I got on Amazon so I don't if that has anything to do with it or not.

If I restart it, it works for a while but then it will drop the 5G band.

  @Smakmauz

Something I would suggest working with is the channel option.

"Auto" does not always do the best job of finding the least congested channel.

If there is interference experienced, that could cause the connection to drop.

I usually use channels 36, 40 or 44 and set the bandwidth to 20/40 Mhz for less interference.

  @Yellowjacket thanks for the reply, can channel congestion lead to the the 5G band light on the extender turning off? That's what I actually saw on it this morning. The other three lights were on except the 5G. It seems as though it's just completely shutting off the band but like I said, I'm not super versed on all the little settings in these things. I can learn and understand pretty fast if I need to though so please keep the advice coming if you or anyone have ideas!  All my settings are just the stock configuration because I don't have a total understanding of DHCP and channels and all that. I've run the little scans that are available from the tether app and they never turn up anything so that's about the extent of what I've done. Thanks again to anyone willing to point me in a direction.

  @Smakmauz

Try channels 36, 40 or 44 and set the bandwidth to 20/40 Mhz.

This kept the 5Ghz band from dropping the extender connection for me.

It's worth a shot to rule out interference issues.

  @Yellowjacket

Thank you, I will certainly try this. Is the channel you end up with just sort of trial and error? Or is there some kind of tool that can scan the different channels for congestion to find the best one?

  @Smakmauz

This is an excellent Android WiFi analyzer that can help determine the least congested channel in your environment:
