  @NHBob,

I believe that they have an IP address, however, it is assigned by the Hub and not via the router. I do not believe that it is possible to access these IPs through the Hub's connection, and they are simply addresses to help the Hub communicate with the cameras. This is one of the reasons that you cannot access the RTSP / ONVIF stream of the cameras.

  @NHBob Thanks, I found this page How to view Tapo camera on PC through RTSP stream | Tapo

So, it seems the battery operated outside cameras can not be accessed remotely, but the $20 C110 can.  I'll be returning these two outdoor cameras.

Bob

  @NHBob

The C420 cameras connect directly to the H200 hub using a hidden sub-G 2.4g network. The hub acting as the router. You cannot connect directly to the cameras, or any other devices to the hub.

It's a weird setup that uses a proprietary signal, compression to attempt to achieve quality over a longer range outdoors and battery life.Though many users report the range isn't all that great compares to standard cameras that use your existing wi-fi. The battery life on these cameras is extremely impressive as it only connects to the hub when motion is detected or you are actively viewing them.

  @Otrip @NHBob

Thank you for this thread, can I confirm if it is possible to connect these C420s to a VIGI NVR?

Many thank,

  @MCP88,

Unfortunately no, the video feeds do not actually pass through your network as a normal IP camera would.

In fact, most battery-powered cameras will not be compatible with RTSP or ONVIF due to the increased power consumption. This is how these cameras can have extremely long battery lives

To connect any camera to an NVR, you would need one of these two features to be available to the camera.
