There are not too many limits placed on the USB drives, but they do have a few:

- First, have you seen if the drive is detectable in the Deco App? The Drive will not be automatically discoverable across your entire network and must first be configured.

- Decos are only compatible with FAT32, NTFS, exFAT formats. See if your device is using a different format.

- Depending on the hard drive, there could be a problem with the power needed for the drive. We normally recommend using an external hard drive that has a separate power source. You may be able to see if there is a problem by checking the LED indicators on your drive itself.

The router manual indicates that the device is equipped with a USB port; however, it does not provide instructions on how to connect other devices to the Deco system.

Unfortunately, the format would be the cause then. APFS is Apple's proprietary format for its file systems and devices, I believe it is usually used with the Airport Utility for backups. If you do swap formats, just make sure that you remember that changing the format of the disk will remove all of its contents.
