Model: Tapo D225
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.13

So I purchased the Tapo D225 mostly for the Always-On mode. I put a transformer and bypassed the chime. when I put it in Hardwired mode, then it charges and all is good.

However, when I put it in Always-On mode and go through questions, and say that Ive bypassed my chime, it takes it ..but within a minute it stops charging although it still shows always-on mode but really not. needless to say it also does not record 24/7.

I am not sure where to start looking? different transformer? SD card?

On another note, is it possible to just get a transformer and connect it straight to the doorbell and not go through the chime wiring? logically should be possible..and it would cut down the guesswork as to whats wrong.

ps: my power is 220v here.

Go to storage and recording.... Then recording schedule.... Click edit... Highlight all to blue for continuous recording.

Also you must have a SD card.

Amazing !yes!

In all honesty I figured that out like yesterday only after trying 2 different transformers multiple resets etc..i..but thanks for info.

Maybe it's me, but I think the app needs a bit more clarity and a couple more options. Ie:when you click always on mode to on,one would think that it is recording 24/7.0and the schedule would be to where you don't want it to record or notify you.

Anyways it's sorted and I hope it helps someone else ...

Re connecting transformer directly to doorbell...I did exactly this in my garage. I used my doorbell's transformer with jumpers for two doorbell cams installed away from the garage, but purchased a separate, standalone doorbell transformer to service a doorbell mounted at the rear garage door. I installed the transformer on the side of metal receptable box in the garage and ran appropriately sized thermostat wire from the transformer to the third doorbell camera. I paid careful attention to the amperage rating of the transformer and allowed for extra capacity in case I wished to run another camera off it in the future. I also made sure there was nothing that would be damaged by potential heat coming from the transformer (though it ended up remaining cool to the touch). My household voltage is 120V.
