Correction: I have a EP40 and not a EP40A 

I bought these 2 outdoor smart plugs and I tried both and have been unsuccessful in setting it up. What I have tried is followed the instructions on setting it up the plugs according to instructions - aka - 

1. plug it in

2. Wait for the light to appear - orange - green - orange

3. connect to the TPLink* wifi from the plug

4. It says it is connected and go back to Kasa

5. In the Kasa app it says connecting to smart plug and the animation goes on and then it fails with "Unable to Connect to your Smart Plug Wifi" 

At this point the phone is connected to the Smart Plug Wifi, If I exit out of the app and go in again - while the wifi is still on the TPLink - it says it has 2 new devices which I can turn on/off - the lights are orange -greeen - orange - same cycle as if it is in setup mode. The moment I disconnect from the TPLink wifi and go to my regular wifi the plugs become offline as expected. 

I have tried:

1. Restarting the process multiple times

2. Restarting the phone and the plug multiple times

3. Resetting the plug and no luck. 

What am I missing? Note this is EP40 model.
