Good afternoon. I was reading through the IP passthrough topic I recently received fiber and switched from spectrum to AT&T fiber with the BGW320 I've tried setting IP passthrough to work on my Deco XE75 mesh system and it is causing a double NAT like the post states. Did you ever switch to a static IP? Did you ever figure out what the solution was to this issue if there is a solution. As of right now I have my decos in AP mode so I don't cause any double NAT issues. I would hate to have a mesh system treated as an wifi extender pretty much. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you are experiencing double NAT issues when using your Deco Mesh system with your AT&T BGW320 gateway, and you currently have your Decos set to Access Point (AP) mode to avoid these issues. You would prefer to use your Deco Mesh as the main router to take advantage of its full features, rather than just as a Wi-Fi extender.

Double NAT occurs when both your ISP gateway (modem/router combo) and your Deco Mesh system are performing NAT (Network Address Translation), which can cause problems with online gaming, video conferencing, and other services.

To resolve double NAT issues, you have two main options:

1. Set your ISP gateway (BGW320) to Bridge or IP Passthrough mode:
• This allows your Deco Mesh to receive the public IP address directly from your ISP, making it the main router and eliminating double NAT.
• You will need to configure the BGW320 to enable IP Passthrough mode and set the Deco as the passthrough device. This process can vary, so please refer to AT&T's official support or user manual for step-by-step instructions. Once done, connect your Deco Mesh to the BGW320 and set it to Router mode.
• Note: Using your Deco Mesh as the main router lets you use advanced features such as parental controls, HomeShield, QoS, and VPN.

2. Keep your Deco Mesh in Access Point (AP) mode:
• In this mode, your BGW320 remains the main router, and the Deco Mesh simply extends your Wi-Fi network. This avoids double NAT, but you lose access to some advanced Deco features.

Recommendation:
We highly recommend using method 1 (IP Passthrough/Bridge mode) so your Deco Mesh can function as the main router and provide all its advanced features. However, if you are unable to configure IP Passthrough on your BGW320, keeping the Deco in AP mode is a safe alternative to avoid double NAT.

If you need detailed guidance on setting up IP Passthrough with your AT&T BGW320, please let us know or consult AT&T support. If you have any other questions or run into issues, feel free to contact us.
