Alexa Routines with TAPO S500D Switch don't show status options only "Main Button -> TAP"
Alexa Routines with TAPO S500D Switch don't show status options only "Main Button -> TAP"
Just bought a bunch of Tapo Devices to replace my old Wifi wall switches. I've installed some S500D dimmers and when I go to create an Alexa Smart Home ROUTINE, and select the device and the trigger I don't get reasonable options for a trigger (like Switch On, Switch Off), the only option I get is "Main Button: Tap" which is totally useless. I need someone to look at the Alexa Integration and see what can be done to provide reasonable trigger states for the devices. "On and Off device state changes should be a bare minimum" for any wall switch device!!!

Yes... For the TP-LINK TAPO Programmer who maintains the Alexa Skill. They have an issue in their "Call Back" routine that services Switch/Light mode changes. They are not providing the inputs for the Power On and Power Off states (Throught the Alexa Skill) to Amazon Alexa.
I've got some TAPO Wall Plugs Ordered that should arrive today from Amazon. I'd bet money that they also do not have the On/Off status change triggers provided to the Alex Skill Also!
I will verify the model and results once configured (probably by tomorrow morning)!

@drdoom you would be correct. I have 3 of their plugs (two different types) already and I have the same issue with them as well.

My switches and Plugs that have the issue include most of the other guy's list (which consists of ALL of the TAPO Devices that I own)! Again, everything has this issue!
Here is the list of my switch and plug models I am running into the issue with (I have 16 TAPO Devices in Total at this point and plan to add more if this can get resolved):
Plugs:
Tapo P135
Switches:
Tapo S500
Tapo S500D
Tapo S515D
And yes, I have check and verified that all of them are Updated to the Current Firmware Version and they are also ALL set to Auto Update at the default interval of 3:00 - 5:00 am daily.
Thanks,

So the Tapo P135 Plugs offer up On and Off states as a "Smart Home Trigger Source on Change" For Alexa Routines (an not just for resulting Actions to be executed after the routine is triggered)??
None of my devices, Including my P125 Plugs can be used as "Change Triggers" in Automation Routines in Alex. They can only be used in TAPO App Routines, which pretty much limit their usability for Automation to the TAPO Eco System.

Alexa app might not update its configuration in time when a smart device’s type is changed. Try restarting both the Alexa app and the Alexa hub. After reopening the app, first confirm the device type was successfully updated, then try to create a new routine.
If the 'turn on/off' is still missing in the trigger options, we recommend reaching out to our support team for assistance: send an email to forumsupport.usa@tp-link.com with the following information. Once sent, a ticket will be created in our support system, and a member of the team will follow up to gather more information or troubleshoot the cause.

I will reach out to support them. I verified mine were charged even has been a few days now. Closed and restarted the app. I still hate Main Button and Tap as my only options.
