Model: Tapo S515D KIT
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

515D kit. Installed and operating perfectly for a couple months. Lately it has started dimming itself when on. For example, if I turn it on at 75%, a couple hours later it will be at 35%.

this particular switch was set on a schedule to come on at 75% every evening for several hours. Day 1 it would come on at 75% then go off at the set time at a much lower %. The next day it would come on at the lower % and then go off at 1%. It happens when used aside from the timer as well. Manually turn on at 100%, several hours later it will be at a much lower %.

I have done a full reset twice. Checked for firmware update. Can't fix the problem.

Check your automation settings in the Tapo app. Did you create any rules that might be causing this? *Open switch's device page in the Tapo app, swipe down and click Smart Actions, check the 'Involved' section.

Also, if your device is connected to Alexa, Google Home, or another third-party platform, review any automations or routines you’ve set up there.

When the light dims, do the brightness indicator on the switch and the brightness level shown in the app both update to the new, lower setting? Or do they still display the original brightness even though the light itself has dimmed?

@Wayne-TP I have removed the switch from any automation or schedules within the app. It has never been connected with Alexa or any other 3rd party. The dimming indicators on the switch and the app both reflect the dimmed state.
an example of the dimming that happens:

turn on switch to 100% at 5pm. Check it at 6pm, and it's at 63%. Check again before I go to bed and it's down to 1%. It is a very slow action. I had another brand new S515D kit and I installed it in that same switch location yesterday. Exact same problem.
when the original switch was installed, it did not display this problem for a long time. Just recently started. No light bulbs have been changed.

thanks for your help!
