KC120 hitting websites it should not be

I installed a KC120 last night and instantly saw an increase in traffic, even when it was turned off in the app.
The green is DNS traffic generated from the KC120
Wondering why it's generating so much traffic when its off and not transmitting video, I looked at the log.
It hits all these sites EVERY MINUTE.
WHY IS THIS CAMERA HITTING SITES THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING A CAMERA, ALL NIGHT LONG, EVEN WHEN "OFF"????
This is why I didn't want to buy this kind of thing in the first place. Because every company wants to "leverage" the fact that you are willing to put a device in your home. Can't a company just sell something that does what it claims and ONLY what it claims???
