TPLink HS200 Smart Switch turns itself off immediately

I just finished installing the smart switch and have it connected to my wifi network. When I turn on the light via the switch or the app, it comes on for a brief second and turns itself off right away.
Cant find any troubleshooting info to help.
Any ideas?

There was another thread of the same exact problems. The issue is from the switch being install on a SPDT (Single-pole double-throw) line. If the HS200 is installed on a SPDT it will restart itself automaitcally and constantly.

I have the same issue and it is not a SPDT. One switch controls my chandelier and that's it.

I'm having this same issue too - 100% sure the light is controlled by one switch only. Please help!

Joe, we would first need to make sure the wiring is correct. Live and Load wires cannot be spliced together. If your house wiring only have a single live wire, then the HS200 cannot be used in this location. You also need to make sure there is a neutral wire. The only wire that is optional is the Ground. This is not a issue typically on newer homes but on older homes you may only have a single live wire and or have no neutral wire available.

Carl, could you explain this further, please? My wall has three wires, the black live, the white neutral (?) and the ground. I have been instructed to connect a black load wire from the switch to the wall live, a black live wire from the switch to the white neutral wire, and then the white and green wires from the switch to the ground. Is this not correct? If not, a) what would be the configuration, or b) it will not work with this configuration. Thanks for the help.

@connley I ran into this last weekend. Two black wires and white. Figured white was neutral. Wrong. Turned out neutral white wires were connected in back of box. The other white connected wire was actually hot. Once I connected the kasa neutral to the other connected white wires it all worked fine.
