We have an existing switch that controls the wrong outlet in a bedroom.

So, after learning about WiFi switches and outlets we purchased a WiFi switch and a WiFi outlet thinking that we could control the WiFi outlet (installed in the right place) with the new WiFi switch.  I can turn the light plugged into the WiFi outlet using the App but not with the WiFi switch.  I tried creating a group in the App and that still does not allow the WiFi switch to control the WiFi outlet.  What am I missing?
