I can see the Kasa controlled switch is on or off through the Kasa App.  But I do wonder where the status comes from. 

 

Does it come from the actual polling of the switch itself?  Or  is  it a reflection of the supposed result of user's operation?   If it's polled, then it would be more accurate, as errors  can happen.

It depends how the switch is connected. 

 

If the switch was connected to the cloud, then all commands go to the cloud and then hit the switch, and vice versa. Settings like schedules are saved locally to the switch.

 

If you were to kill your internet connection, the switch will revert to local only, and you will need to be on the same Wi-Fi network of the switch to control it and see the status of it.
