Remote control on HS103 plug
Besides taking 4-5 attempts at getting these “smart” plugs set up, the 2nd unit is in local only mode and will not allow me to turn on Remote Control in the settings. Defective? Another step to perform? Have removed and reinstalled three times.

First you want to make sure your plug has the firmware up to date. You can check this tapping the 3-bars on the upper left corner of the screen from the main products screen, then tapping settings and finally frimware update.
After this is confrimed if the plug is still on local only. tap on the device it self tap on the gear in the upper right and look for an option that says remote control and toggle it. record any error that pop up if it fails other wise this should fix the issue.

@Carl Yup, did all that. Getting TCP failed error. Remote button won’t engage. Device date said 01/01/00.

Try going into the time and location settings and resyncing those. If that does not work we would likely want to do a replacement and test the device locally for issues.
