I have a light switch at the top and bottom of the stairs.  Can I install just one TP-Link smart switch at either the top or bottom of the stairs or do I have to install them in pairs?  I only see the switches in a kit (HS210 KIT).  Thanks.

@RossG

Yes you can install one of the two on the stairs.

Use the other on another 3way setup.

@RossG Thanks.  One more question, If I didn't want to buy the Kit, can I just get one smart switch, model  HS200?  Or will only the HS210 KIT switches work in a 3-way configuration?

@RossG

Only the HS210 will work in a 3way setup.

I bought HS210 Kit and installed one switch on two different 3way situations. One application works fine with just one wifi switch and the standard switch but the other one only works when the wifi switch is on. I can't control the circuit with the standard switch. Any advice?

Thanks, Dennis

@dlagrimini

Hi,

A picture of both sides of the switch and the box before the change would be needed to help.
