HS200 Light Switch Loses Connection & Won't Reconnect?
HS200 Light Switch Loses Connection & Won't Reconnect?
I have installed my light switch. I have hooked it up. It works for hours.
Randomly, it loses its connectivity to the app, doesn't automatically reconnect, and I have to pair it again.
Why is this happening? I installed it yesterday and it has already disconnected twice.
I have a new Google Mesh WiFi system, with an access point in the same room, and I know that my internet connectivity in my room is strong, so that's not the issue.
Why does it suddenly unsync with my WiFi?

Create a guest network, and only enable the 2.4GHz to see if that stays connected.
The switch may be getting confused with a mesh network.

Really? So, maybe just connect it to my main FiOS router? But, then I can't check the stats via my Google WiFi app and, can I voice activate it on my FiOS router?

That could be worth testing to, mainly to get the smart device on a single network rather than one name with multiple nodes. With our Deco mesh system, users have used our smart devices without issue, but I'm not sure if there are subtle differences.

First, thanks for helping.
I moved it to the Guest Network on my Mesh Network - that didn't work.
I now have it on my FiOS 2.4 GHz network, so we'll see if that works.
If it does, good, but I won't like that it's not on the same network with everything else.
Isn't there a setting somewhere to ask the TP-Link to Auto-Reconnect?

Even if it is not on the same subnet, that will still be ok. You will automatically revert to controlling remotely, and all other means of controlling the switch like Google Home or Alexa utilize a remote control to do it.
After being set up with the 2.4GHz the switch should automatically connect should the network go down. If not, then press the reboot button that that should get it back on the network.

I now have it on my main router's 2.4 GHz speed and it hasn't gone down in over a day.
Do you know if I can connect it to my mesh system and specify I want it connected to the 2.4 GHz speed?

I spoke to soon. It literally just went off. Why?

@Tony I now have it working for two days on my main router's guest network. Why is it that I cannot get it to work on my Google Mesh network? Why won't it reconnect and why does it lose connection daily?

Could be the roaming feature of the mesh network.
Sometimes 2.4G only devices have issues in staying connected to a mesh only network. I believe nest cameras have some trouble as well.

@Tony But, I have over two dozen other items on my mesh network (including Nest doorbell) and they never have issues like this.
