Model: HS210
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I would like to purchase and install a 3-way switch (HS210) in my house.  I understand from reading Amazon reviews that I can install only one switch per 3-way circuit.  I have also read that it needs to be on the "load" side.  I'm not 100% sure what this means.

Please see what I believe to be my setup after reviewing my wiring in the wall below:

Since the switch requires 2 travelers, 1 line/load, and 1 neutral wire I assume I have to install the switch on the left side, correct?

If so, will the HS210 work with my wiring configuration?

If it won't work, do you have any other suggestions for a smart switch for use in this type of set up?

Thanks in advance!

@bhunt935

The HS210 can be installed as just one per circuit though its not the load side it has to be on.  It needs to be on the live side the reason is although the circuit will shut off and on power needs to be constant to the WiFi Module in order to be able to control the product even when its off.  If you have it on the load side the manual switch would need to stay in a static "on" position.

I hope that explains it a bit better.

@Carl yes. Thank you!

I believe that means that I can install it in the left side of the diagram, correct?

@bhunt935

Based on that Diagram, yes that should be where it goes.  I personally have this type of setup but i had to install on the load side as my Live or line side is in my garage. so in that case the switch in the garage just stays in the On position.

Cool, thanks. Both of mine are inside. I won’t need to leave the other switch in the on position, correct?
