I am trying to view the RTSP stream on VLC. I am able to view the stream for a few minutes before the stream stops itself. I am also able to ping the camera afterward, but the credentials are not accepted when I try to view the RTSP stream again. The connection string I'm passing into VLC is of the form rtsp://USERNAME:PASSWORD@IP:554/stream1. However, if I "change" the camera account to the same one I was using, within the Tapo camera's Advanced Settings, I am able to view the RTSP stream again. It seems as if the camera is automatically resetting the account and the credentials that I set do not work.
