Yup it was the bulb;the led bulb was an earlier generation; Bought a Philips led and works great.

Yeah I think I had it connected like that but found that the light was still on slightly even when the switch was off. I wonder if its the bulb?

@derickMoonPilot So my wiring has a black as hot, red as traveller, and a white wire that is not connected to the twisted neutral wires, perhaps another traveller?
