I just swapped out a old Cisco 3750 and a few Aironet 3602 for a TL-SG2016P and some EAP655. My core router is a Opnsense VM running on Proxmox.

 

I have a few vlans setup in Opnsense and i'm not using the Omada Controler or software:

vlan1: default 10.1.1.1/24

valn9: DMZ 10.1.9.1/24

vlan10: IOT 10.1.10/24

vlan11: home 10.1.10.1/24

valn12: guest 10.1.12.1/24

 

I initally had some issue setting up mDNS for Bonjour (Homekit) but finaly managed to get that working bethween vlan10 & 11.

 

I have setup vlan11 on the EAP655 on eth1 for my AppleTV but for some reason it seems to lose connection and stops respoding in HomeKit. If I connect it over WIFI I have no issue. I connected my laptop and ran Wireshark, I don't see anything wrong. I can see mDNS trafic UDP brodcast to 224.0.0.251:5353

 

But one things that stange that I see on the EAP vs connected to Eth1 is a tone of IPV6 trafic that is in TCP retransmission. I don't have IPv6 turned on on my laptop and I can't find what that trafic could be.

 

The web interface to manage the EAP655 is pretty basic, is there a way to turn off IPV6 trafic?

Hi, do you have any IPv6 enabled or related settings on thr router?

Can you run the Wireshark when the laptop connect to your router? Is it the same result?

  @Virgo I did a bit more investigation, the IPv6 traffic is coming from the AppleTV 4k. I'm actually seeing the same traffic when I'm connected via ethernet to the switch or to the eth1 on the AP but I don't see the specific trafic if i'm connected via WIFI. What's also interesting is that the AppleTV is connected via the same WIFI!
