  @slipperysloth

I've been anxious to try it on my 2 650s but glad I've held off given this report.  Thanks for posting!

  @Hank21

I appreciate this firmware beta drop fro the EAP 655 Wall.  I installed it and indeed, the PPSK withouth radius is working.  Great throughput on the 5Ghz band, but 2.4Ghz is not usable.  Definitely some serious collisions and major packet loss.  I tried to troubleshoot, but had to take them offline as most of my smart IOT devices are on the 2.4 band.  I also getting 100+ mbs using that 615-walls, but on the 655-walls, major packet loss and average throughput of about 20 mbps for 2.4 Ghz.  I'll keep a watch when the next beta drops and try again.  Thanks.

  @Hank21

I have upgraded to the beta 1.0.9 to resolve my problems with IPv6 especially using dynamic VLANs. After flashing it again the 2nd time it looks like IPv6 multicast issues are fine now on dynamic VLANs. But I see mDNS packets leaking from all VLANs (IPv4) on my EAP650v1 despite having multicast-to-unicast turned on. Also tried with filtering mDNS without any change. I have no gateway and no mDNS repeater enabled, also do not see them on wired devices.

Could you please be more specific so that we can understand the issue you encountered?

Do you mean that you tried to upgrade the firmware on your EAP655-Wall and EAP650 respectively but failed?

What did you do and what happened? Was there any error message?

Could you please also tell your controller version, your previous and current EAP device firmware with the build number?

Hello @bentoboxchicken,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. Please allow me to check some details to understand what happened.

  @Hank21 The firmware update didn't work on my EAP670 v1.26. After upgrade it remained disconnnected from the controller. Trying to access the AP directly through a direct Ethernet connection through the IP address 192.168.0.254 would cause it to power off and on.

May I know your Omada Controller version? What is the current firmware (with the Build number) of your EAP670? Are you still running the EAP670_V1_1.0.11_Build 20230702 (Beta) firmware?

When you found that the EAP remained disconnected from the Controller, was the EAP670 itself still working? Were the wireless clients still connected and working well?

How did you power up your EAP670, via the DC power or via a PoE switch? Have you tried to reset the EAP670 (hold ~5s until LED flash) and see if it helps? Or have you tried to recover the firmware by following the guide below?

How to use the Recovery Mode to recover the firmware for EAP

Edit:

Our support engineers would like to check more details with you to look into the issue. I've created a support ticket via your registered email address, the ticket ID is TKID230813337, if you're willing to help, please pay attention to this ticket email and respond to the support engineer. Thanks!

  @Fae

Do you mean that you tried to upgrade the firmware on your EAP655-Wall and EAP650 respectively but failed?

- i successfully applied the EAP655-waa fw, but the EAP650-Wall fw did not apply and i received a message that the file was invalid. I downloaded twice.

1.0.3 Build 20230410 Rel. 62399 is the version of my EA650 and i will try to run the update later and post the message exactly.

controller = ER7212PC v1.0, Firmware Version:1.0.3 Build 20230314 Rel.21018

THanks,
JC

Hello @JCUK,

Thank you for verifying the information.

Please note that the firmware file will only be kept for 5 minutes. Generally when the Upgrade has not been started within 5 minutes after the firmware (.bin file) is downloaded or uploaded successfully, it may prompt the error saying that "The upgrade file is invalid. Please select a correct file".

So you may ensure that you have the Upgrade started right after the firmware is uploaded.

Besides, if your EAP650 has been kept running for a long time, try rebooting it to clear the cache before you upgrade the firmware.

Look forward to your update.

Hello @slipperysloth,

Thank you for your valuable feedback with the detailed information.

The issue has been reported to our support engineers for further investigation in high priority.

Upon reset (hold ~5s until LED flash), the EAP655-Wall was discovered by the controller, running 1.2.0, but after adoption got stuck in the CONFIGURING state for around 10min, then DISCONNECTED again and was not pingable anymore.

According to the description above, our support engineers doubt that the issue may have something to do with the VLAN configuration and they would like to check more details with you to figure it out. I've created a support ticket via your registered email address, the ticket ID is TKID230813282, if you're willing to help, please pay attention to this ticket email and respond to the support engineer. Thanks!
