Model: RE305
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.0.23 Build 230418

The extender cannot change the name of the network. I rebooted many times and can't change the name of the extended wifi. The name is the same as the main network and that causes problems

Hi,

Are you saying that you entered new network names in the fields "Extended 2.4GHz SSID:" and "Extended 5GHz SSID:" and then clicked on the [SAVE] button, but after rebooting the extender has restored the original names again?

  @woozle

If when I click the save button, the network names always come back to the same, it doesn't matter if I restart it or not or if I try to change it from the application or from the browser.

 For example, my main network is Totalplay_Gnzlz_2.4G and Totalplay_Gnzlz_5G, when connecting the repeater to that network, the name of the extended networks is Totalplay_Gnzlz_2.4G and Totalplay_Gnlz_5G. and that cause  Problems in all devices connected to the network. And the repeater does not allow me to change the names because if I change it after a few seconds it returns to the same name Totalplay_Gnzlz_2.4G Y Totalplay_Gnzlz_5G regardless of whether the main network is that or not also happens even if I connect to a different network the names are always the same

Have you connected the RE305 as a regular range extender or as an OneMesh/EasyMesh device? In OneMesh/EasyMesh networks the SSIDs of all devices will always be the same.

What is the brand and model number of your router?

  @woozle

No, I never connect it to mesh, I use it normally connected to the router. And it has only been used for a month, the problem occurred after updating the firmware. My router is Huawei. But I connected it to another Brand and even my cell phone network and the name is always the same TotalplayGnzlz_2.4 and Totalplay_Gnzlz_5G. Even when turning off a 2.4 or 5G network from the Tether app the repeater reboots and turns it back on

Ok, I see. That the problem started after updating the firmware is important information.

I suggest you perform a "FACTORY RESTORE" from the menu Settings > System Tools > Backup & Restore and then try again if it is possible to change the Extended SSIDs.

If it still doesn't work, then this problem should be investigated the official TP-Link Support.

Yes, I already tried to factory reset from the tether application and from the browser but the problem persists even when the network of that name is not nearby or connected

  @Kevin_Gozk

Hi, Thank you very much for your feedback.

May I know the model number of your Huawei router?

Could you please help me run a simple test:

1. Factory reset  RE305 and make sure it could revert back to the default SSID: TP-Link_XXXX with no security.

2. Temporarily disable the Host 2.4/5Ghz settings, then change the Extended Network SSID to something else first on the web UI.

3. Check whether you are able to see the new SSID on RE305.

Wait for your reply.

best regards.

  @David-TP

The repeater is a Huawei echolife HG8145V5

If when changing the name when disconnected from the network, the name that I put on both networks remains.But when connecting to the network the name changes back to the same without me changing it

  @David-TP

Yeah. It doesn't matter if I click copy SSID or not, a few seconds after connecting the network the name changes by itself. I already received an email from tp link support advising that they will contact me
