Hi I'm wondering if there's a way to automatically dim a bulb if it's been on for a period of time.

For example bulb is turned on after 10mins dims to 50% after 20mins down to 25%.

Bulb is turn on ad-hoc so not sure schedules will help here

Thanks for any assistance

Here is a solution that combines the "Delay" feature in Action (available in Smart Action 2.0) and the Shortcut can meet this use scenario. Let's take a look!

First, as the current rule does not allow adjusting the light bulb to a certain brightness, we can create some shortcuts to achieve this instead.

Shortcut

A. L510 50% Bright

Set Lighting to 50% brightness

B. L510 25% Bright

Set Lighting to 25% brightness

Then, create an automation rule to control the above shortcuts. By adding "delay" actions, you're able to adjust the effective time of the shortcuts.

Automation

When  L510 Turn On

Then

  • Delay 10min
  • Run Shortcut A
  • Delay 30min (All the actions begin together)
  • Run Shortcut B
