Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.6.5

Hi there,

Recently we switched from a Orbi mesh network to a Deco Mesh. Unfortunately our Fronius Inverter now can't connect to internet. I've been in contact with Fronuis support and after a lot of trouble shooting we concluded that the Deco has some sort of firewall or other security features that don't allow the inverter to access internet. When trying with other devices, such as using mobile hot spots, it works perfectly.  We've tried with port forwarding but since the inverter doesn't even show up as a connected device in the deco app, this one is tricky.

Please tell me what more information I could provide for anyone to be able to answer or help. Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the community.

Would there be any error message when the Fronius Solar Panel Inverter failed to connect to Deco M4?

Here is some advice for your reference:

1. Turn off "Beamforming" and "Fast Roaming" under Deco APP>More>Advanced.

2. Temporarily disable the 5 GHz band

3. If both suggestions failed, please try to update to the 1.7.0 firmware here to see whether it helps: Deco M4_V1/V2_1.7.0 Official Ready for Test!

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Thank you for you respons, unfortunately neither of the tips helped.
I will now go ahead and try with the 1.7 download.
can I revert to earliest version if this would cause any trouble?

Hi, the 1.7.0 could revert to the official 1.6.5, but it needs to be implemented via firmware recovery:

Hi, did this get resolved. We have the same issue. Everything worked until I changed the network the inverter is on to the iot one.. Same everything else. Lost fronius connection and can't see inverter on Deco. Yet can connect on the LAN via IP.  Bean forming etc are off.  I've tried putting it back on main network but still can't connect. Deco network on latest version. Help appreciated.

Hi, welcome to the community.

Did you also use Deco M4? Can I have its current firmware version?

Are you trying to say that the Fronius inverter can't connect to Deco WiFi(neither the IoT network nor the Main WiFi network), or the WiFi is connected successfully, but the inverter doesn't show up in the Online List?

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @egipps

unfortunately not. I've tried everything I could find on any forum. Switching to a mobile hotspot did give me access to the converter again.so at least I could rule out that the Deco network simply doesn't let the converter communicate over the network.
I will buy a Mobile 5G router and place it next to the converter, that will be my solution.
