Model: Archer BE230
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.4 Build 20250318 rel.31873(4341)

Hi,

My brand new router is dropping the connection on both LAN and WAN every hour on the dot.
There also seems to be constant interruption that the router does not catch in the logs as every wifi device sometimes lose connection (social media feed just stops loading, laptop browser stops loading page for about 8-10 seconds before the connection resumes and the page refreshes, etc.

It's infuriating. I've checked on the forums and multiple threads were about the same logs appearing on the router config page. The upload for the log file keeps failing, I'll copy and paste everything at the bottom of the thread.

I updated the firmware, called my ISPs multiple times to see if they saw downtime on the modem at the timestamps the logs showed downtime and no dice. I ran Net Uptime Monitor to monitor the connection on both wired and wireless PCs connected to the network and both connection drops at the same time as the router says so.

This never happened before we installed the new router. Granted, we had to change the modem as the old one didn't support the new speed we have now so that's why I was really thorough with my testing on the modem's connection.

I will report back with the old router to see if the connection drops but it's a cheaper model that doesn't have any logging capabilities.

In the meantime, is there anything known about that issue with those routers?

Thank you!

  @Joseph-TP Hey Joseph,

I tried with a D-Link router and the interruptions were the same. It does seems like the issue is related to the ISP.

I'll get in touch with them on Monday to press the issue as I got a bit deflected last time. I'll keep this thread open for me to report back any useful information for others who might encounter the same issue.

Thank you!

Alright, update time!

So interruptions were still happening when a PC was connected directly on the Modem using NetUptimeMonitor every hour, on the dot, but there wasn't any sporadic interruptions other than the cyclical ones.

A tech from our ISP came over and saw the coaxial cable missed some channels on the lower end of the spectrum (I'm explaining what I was able to understand). He thought his meter was off or broken, but then it clicked: It was a filter in the pole that connected to our house that was installed to block some channels from being sent to our old modem. (I think it's related to a TV cable link, but we stopped the cable subscriptions years ago).

When upgrading the modem, the new one used those channels but couldn't since they where blocked, causing network interruptions. Tech went up the pole, did some stuff came back and everything went back up. For the last 2 1/2 hours, no interruptions on either the router's logs or the NetUptimeMonitor. So issue solved!

Hope this helps anyone with the same issue.

Thank you for the support! This thread can be marked as resolved.

Peace!

Hi @ElRiptide,

Thank you for contacting our community.

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

ISP modem—router)))((( client devices

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

For unstable issue, please try the following suggestions:

    1) When the internet drops, connect a PC or the old router directly into your modem to verify if your ISP Internet is stable.
    2) Make sure the Ethernet cable between your modem and the Router is connected properly, replaced old cables with new ones.
    3) Change the DNS Server of the Router, login the web management interface of the Router, go to Advanced > Network > Internet > Advanced Settings, change the two DNS Servers into 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8How to Change the DNS servers on the wireless router and DSL modem router (New UI)?

Best regards.
