Hi everyone,

we’re experiencing recurring network outages in our Omada SDN setup and are hoping for insights or ideas from the community. Maybe someone has encountered something similar or can point us in the right direction.

Infrastructure Overview:

  • Gateway: ER8411

  • Controller: OC300 (recently moved directly to the gateway)

  • Core Switch: VLAN-capable L2/L3 switch (handles all uplinks, servers, and DHCP)

  • Access Switches & APs throughout the building

  • DHCP and core services located in the server VLAN connected to the core switch

Issue Summary:

  • Additionally, random outages occur (e.g. at 12:33 PM or 1:55 PM)

  • During the outages, the Omada Controller shows multiple devices with:

    • "Heartbeat Missed"

    • "Connected_Error"

    • Occasionally: NoRouteToHostException, SocketException, etc.

  • The outage typically lasts about 90 seconds, after which the network recovers either automatically or via manual reboot of the core switch

What we've tried so far:

  • Enabled RSTP on all switches

  • Enabled Loop Prevention

  • Moved the Controller directly to the Gateway (bypassing the Core switch)

Question to the community:

Has anyone experienced something similar?

We’d really appreciate any advice or shared experience.

Thanks in advance!
