@Hilbert-TP I have brought this camera since 2 year back, first time see such behaviour.

There are direct power connection To ac 5A power socket, no extension.

For backup source, that power socket is invertor enable as backup source of ac power went down.

Since starting, all looks ok, but on 11th May, even in night outage or rebbot trigger and need to know exact reason, somewhere in log, this cause by this or that.

Looks like event log, system log and so on

In tplink no logs facility.

Thanks

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
In general, a Tapo camera may reboot automatically for the following common reasons:
1. Firmware update – The camera will reboot once a firmware upgrade is installed.
2. Power interruption – A brief power outage or unstable power supply can cause a reboot.
3. Scheduled auto‑reboot – If the Auto Reboot feature is enabled, the camera will restart at the configured time.

Based on the time you mentioned (around 1:24 AM), it is very likely that the camera performed a firmware update. What we recommend you check:
1. Please confirm the current firmware version shown in the app.
2. Check whether Auto Reboot is enabled in the camera settings, and if so, what reboot time is configured.

If you notice frequent or unexpected reboots, please let us know and we will be happy to assist further.

Best Regards,

@Hilbert-TP there are no firmware upgrade happened.

Firmware version : 1.3.4, build 251205

There are no power issue , I believe because it part of UPS/invertor supply as backup source.

No auto reboot selected, its "No"

Still curious why reboot was happened, near about 1m 10s outage and no recording...

Thx

Hi,

Thank you for the update.
To help us investigate further, could you please confirm the following details:
Did the issue occur at around 1:24 AM on May 12 (India local time), or was it at a different date/time?

Additionally, please send me the camera’s MAC address via private message, so we can check it on our side.

Best Regards,

Hi,

Are you using a power extension cable to supply power to the camera?

During the night, when the infrared LEDs turn on, the camera’s power consumption increases. If a power extension cable is used, this may cause voltage drop and insufficient power, which can result in automatic reboots. This setup is not recommended.

We suggest powering the camera using the original power adapter and cable directly connected to a stable power outlet to ensure reliable operation.

  @anilraj_003

Hello,
Thank you for the additional details.

Based on the device information you provided, we can confirm that your camera is a V1 hardware version. For this hardware version, no new firmware has been released recently, so the reboot you observed should not be related to an automatic firmware update. That said, it is still possible that the camera completed a pending firmware update earlier, if it had not been updated for a long time before.
At this point, we’re afraid that we cannot provide any additional or more detailed information regarding this issue beyond what has already been shared.

If you would like to investigate this further, we recommend contacting your local TP‑Link support team. When doing so, please provide:
1. The exact date and time of the reboot
2. The camera’s MAC address
3. Any additional details you’d like them to check

Best Regards,

@Hilbert-TP There is no local TP-Link support. It is not practical to verify such outages.

There are complete security breaches in sensitive zones. I would prefer not to buy such a camera that has no such facility to figure out such events.

Thanks for your time to checking such case.

Thankyou.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We sincerely understand your frustration regarding the unexpected camera behavior and its potential impact on your security setup.

To better assist you, could you please let us know which region or country you are located in? Even if local TP-Link support is not readily accessible, we are still able to coordinate further assistance for you.

If you agree, we can offer two options to escalate this matter:
1. Forward your case to the corresponding regional team for follow-up.
2. Create a support ticket on your behalf and escalate it to our senior engineering team for in-depth investigation.

Please let us know which option you prefer. Additionally, if you choose to proceed with email follow-up, could you kindly confirm whether the email address associated with your forum account is active and available for contact?

  @Hilbert-TP Hello,

Thank you for the response.

I am located in India, State Bihar.

You may proceed with option 2 and escalate the case to the senior engineering team for further investigation.

Yes, the email address associated with my forum account is active for communication.

My primary concern is that unexpected camera reboots in a security environment should ideally provide sufficient diagnostic visibility or event logging so users can determine whether the reboot was caused by firmware, power fluctuation, connectivity issue, or any abnormal behavior.

Since this was the first occurrence, I am currently monitoring the device further.

Thank you.
