Firmware TD-W9980B
Hardware Version :
Firmware Version :
ISP :
Hello,
I am having issues installing new firmware on my TD-W9980B. Current Firmware is: 0.6.0 1.1 v007a.0 Build 170112 Rel.65475n. Everytime I try to install new firmware that i downloaded from this link ( https://www.tp-link.com/de/download/TD-W9980B.html#Firmware) the Router does not accept the file (Code: 4503). I wanted to upgrade it so that I can set the VLAN ID in ADSL-Mode. With the current firmware that is not possible. Did i download the wrong firmware? I also used a Mac to update it but that should not make difference? Thank you for any Ideas on how to solve this problem.
Best regards
joleo

Hello, the latest firmware on the local website is the special-customized one based on ISP's requests. As you can see the country version of this firmware is DE.
https://www.tp-link.com/de/support/download/td-w9980b/#Firmware
While the current one, which is 170112 is the UN version, which removed the features supported on the DE version, and limit to upgrade/degrade firmware between two versions.
That is the reason why you get the error code, and considering it is up to date already, you do not have to upgrade it.
May it help.

What is the current hardware and firmware version?
What is the firmware you want to upgrade?
Please check the country version of your device as well, it is printed on the back label, next to the model number.
For your information, the firmware need match the hardware and country version both.
Good day.

Thank you for the reply.
The firmware version is as same as the above mentioned one: 0.6.0 1.1 v007a.0 Build 170112 Rel.65475n
The hardware version on configuration website of the router is TD-W9980B V1.0 000000000...
On the back label I noticed the tiny difference of hardware version, it is TD-W9980B(DE) V1.0
Actually I think it is strange that how the firmware version of my router can be later than the latest one on TP-LINK official support. The firmware version I tried to upgrade(or downgrade?) is the latest one on this website: https://www.tp-link.com/de/support/download/td-w9980b/#Firmware. The update file is named "TD-W9980B(DE)v1_0.6.0_2.10_up_boot(150519)_2015-05-19_16.01.15.bin"
I bought it from Amazon in Germany.

Hello,
thanks a lot for the explanation. Does it mean that my router is using its non-original firmware? Because the back label shows the harware version is DE...
If so, I'm going to ask for refund from Am*zon..

Please send us a screenshot of the back label where you saw the country version.
May I know have you ever upgraded the firmware of the TD-W9980B before? And when did you buy this router?
Good day.
