I've been having problems with managing parental control on the Archer VR500v Wi-Fi router. My goal is to restrict access to certain sites (gaming, adult contents) for a device at all time, but allow it to access other sites (e.g. wikipedia, google etc.)

So I've been following the instructions of the manual and online pages to set up the parental control, but it does not work even with everything done correctly.

- If I enable the content restriction and blacklist a number of keywords or websites only, it doesn't work, the device under parental control can still access all those websites in question.

- If I set the effective time for the device in question, then the device will not be able to connect to the Wi-Fi router AT ALL during those effective times.

I have done everything to try and fix this issue, including restarting the router, firmware updates, advanced time settings. Have I missed something here to make it work?

Hi,

Do you mind share the screenshots of your parental control settings?

Enter the website address. Even if you use keyword, it should be domain suffix (eg. .edu or .org), then URL that contains edu or org will be blocked. But websites usually do not use "porm" as URL address.

Based on the schedule you set, from 2-3, the website in black list will be blocked.

I have tried putting in the url, but it doesn't work.

As I have explained before, the time slots I select does not block the websites during those hours. If I select 2-3 am, the device will not connect to the router from 2-3 am, which means that the device is disconnected from the router automatically.

@Kevin_Z

It has been over a year, still no change.

Is there a firmware update to fix this issue?

I have described the problem and following the manual clearly does not help.
