Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.6

Hi,

I am just getting mine set up and would like to know whether wall or ceiling mounting makes any difference and how directional the antennas are. For instance I assume that based on the design the units are best mounted oriented flat (so on a table/floor/shelf) rather than horizontal (eg on a wall).  However to get better coverage I was going to mount them on a ceiling. However if the antenna is very directional this would mean everything is pointing down rather than up but it may be that the antenna is Omni directional.

I don’t see any advice in the user guide. Please can someone advise if mounting to a ceiling would work to give better overall coverage.

Thanks l.

@Merklyn thanks.  I am using wireless backhaul and I used command strips to secure to the ceiling in the end.  Been going for a couple of years now and still going strong!

Hi,

FYI, the M9 plus has the omni directional antenna, while due to the specification of wireless, the signal strength may be weaker in vertical direction than horizontal one.

While there is no wall hanging design on M9 plus yet.

To get better wifi signal strength and wifi coverage area, you can put it on a table/shelf opened without interference

Hi, thanks for the reply!  and understood - I guess this explains the length of the cable on the power adaptor on the box too as its not long enough to go anywhere except on to a table really!  Thanks!

Like other eletrical appliances, there is no extension power cord, and generally speaking, the length is able to locate it easily.

To ensure the performance, it is suggested to locate it in an open area without interference.

Good day.

@lucozadenrg Mine are sat srewed into the ceiling with the backhaul ethernet being used between nodes.  Works great. :)

@Merklyn

My Main Deco M9 Plus sits on the table. One floor above it, Satellite M9 Plus is wall mounted, uses WiFi backhaul to Main.

Satellite M9 is getting excellent signal on WiFi backhaul from Main Deco, and every device on the same floor as Satellite has strong WiFi signal from it.

My ISP provides download speed of up to 350Mbps. I routinely get that on smartphone connected to Satellite M9.

It is, indeed, working great. I am very pleased with Deco mesh.

@Kevin_Z  hi, due to the amount of heat that comes off the underside of these, the table top or wall mount is still the preferred method?

@SpencerS

Hi, I used to see some nice ideas about mounting Deco from users.

take Deco M5 for example:

Maybe you could have a look at the following link:
