Model: Archer VR600
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: Build 170504 Rel.68210n

Out of the box the router is running fine with just a single LAN connection to get the base settings in place, as soon as I hook this up to Sky fibre and the device is passing data, this thing is the most horrible network experience I've ever had.

Although functionaly the device is working (17 wired devices via layer 2 hubs and 7 wireless devices) it's the best part of unresponsive, the GUI is slow taking 20-30 seconds to refresh or update the page....it's the best part of unworkable.  Is this typical of the TP-link products?  Do all products take the hit like this?  The Sky Q hub that this device replaced did not have this problem.

I appreciate it looks like there is a high number of wired devices on the network however this is due to a home virtualisation lab with a number of management interfaces and they havent been powered on since I introduced the new router.

There are no IP conflicts on the network, all network devices are behaving but the router itself is just so frustrating to use.

I've also unbound my TP link account from my router as that's another 30 seconds of my life I'll never get back every time I try and log into the router.

@Paradaz

What is the current network diagram, how do you connect these devices together?

With computer connected to the VR600 only, is it faster to get the web UI?

Meanwhile, when it is loading to get the login page, please ping the gateway of the VR600 which is 192.168.1.1 by default and show us the picture of the ping results.

Besides, except the GUI, you can use the Tether app to manage it; that would be more convenient.

Good day.

Thanks for the response, I'm at work at the moment so don't have direct access to my home network.  A network diagram would look fairly simple and is just a star topology with a smart TV and PC directly connected to 2 of the LAN ports, and an 8-port dumb switch (layer 2 only) connected to one of the other LAN ports.

The dumb switch (which maintains 1000Mb/s connectivity to all devices) is located in the attic and feeds 2 x headless servers, another smart TV and a wired laptop connection.

When pinging the router, I noticed the echo occasionally jumps from 1ms to 300ms.......I'll have to see how bad it is when trying to log into the device however I was looking at it again last night and it must be between 30 seconds to a minute before the router responds to any configuration changes or refreshes the page.  When I'm accessing devices on my network, they respond instantly.....the router is the only device having these issues.

[Edit: It's rock solid on <1ms even when attempting to log into the router.........yet it still takes ~45 seconds just to reach the login page]

I have tried 'Tether' but because it takes so long to get to the actually login, it is another example of frustration....but from what I have seen I'm not convinced the app gives full management functionality that the device has?

It's probably worth noting that I haven't changed anything on my network either from my old configuration that worked flawlessly....apart from reconnecting wireless devices to the 'new' network even though the SSID remains the same.

All fixed....remove the TP Link device and replaced it with another router (Asus) that doesn't have the horrific slow GUI issues
