Model: Archer VR400
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

My ISP speed is 200MBs - gets 200MBs from samsung galaxy S8 througth WIFI.

When I connect CAT6 etherent cable to a computer (tried 2 computers with Ubuntu Linux and Windows) the speed negotiated down to 100MBs:

$>sudo mii-tool -v eth0

eth0: negotiated 100baseTx-FD, link ok

product info: vendor 00:07:32, model 17 rev 2

basic mode:   autonegotiation enabled

basic status: autonegotiation complete, link ok

capabilities: 1000baseT-HD 1000baseT-FD 100baseTx-FD 100baseTx-HD 10baseT-FD 10baseT-HD

advertising:  1000baseT-HD 1000baseT-FD 100baseTx-FD 100baseTx-HD 10baseT-FD 10baseT-HD flow-control

link partner: 100baseTx-FD 100baseTx-HD 10baseT-FD 10baseT-HD

$>lspci | grep Eth

03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 03)

$>sudo ethtool eth0

There is no problem with the computer\cable - because when connecting both computers with the same cable the speed is 1G.

So there is no problem with the computers etherent and the cable. Tried to change port in the router and validated QoS is turned off.

Do you have more ideas, why is this happening?

@nolim

It seems that the wired negotiation speed between the router and computer limits the actual speed you can get.

Try to fix the duplex & speef to 1Gbps to give it a go.

For Windows PC, you can go to control panel-network and internet-network and sharing center-change adapter settings-right click on ethernet connection and go to properties, click configure and tab on advanced.

As an open system, we are not familiar with the Linux OS, while you can give it a go as well.

Besides, please verify the negotiation speed of the VR400; check it under basic-network map page, click on VR400 and then you will get the info.

Best regards.

You are right, the router ports are 100MBs.

The wifi is above 1G, so I was sure the ports are also 1G.

Ordered a new router the Archer C7, thanks

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, you are right that the 3 LAN ports are 100Mbps ports that is why you won't get the speed higher than 100Mbps.

The Archer C7 has the gigabit ports, while there is no DSL port which used to synchronized the DSL connection.

HARDWARE FEATURES
Interface 4 10/100/1000Mbps LAN Ports
1 10/100/1000Mbps WAN Port
1 USB 2.0 Ports

Good day.
