Model: Archer VR900
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 171128

I have a VR900 V2 on the latest firmware (171128) and the Access Control only allows 31 devices to be monitored.  I need much more than that with all the Raspberry and ESP devices, plus my regular wifi devices and lan hosts.

The firmware hasn't updated in almost two years, is it possible to have the firmware updated to allow double (63) the devices to be monitored, this is pretty important to me.  As it is I have to delete and re-enter the details of any extra device I happen to be working on at the time, and this is a major PITA.

Any help appreciated.

@RaSTuS

Hello, sorry to that limitation on the access control entries. There is no new firmware yet, while we will remind our R&D team and we can try to find a workaround.

May I know what is your network request to setup access control?To block some devices access internet.

For some needs, it can be satisfied by parental control.

For example, if you want to block some device access internet, you can add it into whitelist but no keywords, and the internet access  time will be 24/7. Then this device won't be able to access internet.

Best regards.

Hi Kevin, thanks for your help.

My setup uses a whitelist to allow network Access Control.

@RaSTuS

Hello, thanks for your reply.

If you want to setup whitelist to allow specific device access internet, you can use the parental control settings mentioned on my last reply  to satisfy your needs.

To those who you want to block their internet access, you can add them into parental control, select whitelist but no keyword, then choose 24/7 as internet access  time. Then it won't be able to access internet.

Besides, there is another simple method, change another wireless settings(wifi name and password) and do not share them with those you want to block.

Good day.

I want everything but my whitelist blocked.  If I start to use Parental Controls to control another whitelist then won't that stop the devices on the Access Control  whitelist from connecting?

It's not about accessing the internet, but accessing my internal network that I'm trying to secure.

My wifi password is 63 chars long, and no-one but me knows it.  This isn't the point, anyone with a bit of nouse can sniff that stuff out, which is why I'm using a whitelist in the first instance.                                                                                                                                                                                                                            i

@RaSTuS

The parental control can help you to block/allow some devices access specific websites at certain time period. But the premise is that the device has connected to the router already.

Meanwhile, there are some products that supports up to 64 address reservation, like Deco M9 plus, Deco M5, Deco P7;

May it help and have a nice day.

It's not too long ago I bought the V900, I can't really afford another router without having to save for it on the pension.

Two questions:

So getting a firmware update isn't possible ?

I downloaded the GPL code, is there enough in that to build my own firmware ?

Hi, sorry to tell you that we do not have such information about the release date of the next firmware.

Meanwhile, for the GPL, you can give it a go to create your own firmware.

Or you can try to verify whether you can install the 3rd party firmware to enlarge the volume of access control. While please notice that it will be against the warranty once you installed the 3rd  party firmware.

Good day.
