Hello, sorry to misread the original question. The Archer AX1500 does not support WDS yet.
While it supports regular router mode and AP mode both.
May it help.

The Archer AX1500 supports WPS, you can find the WPS button on the back panel and the web UI.
For more information, you can read the user manual.

Is this still a planned feature as I just bought the router and was not expecting something available in much cheaper and older routers to be missing?
I am looking at using this as a main router and an older tplink as the secondary.

Hi,
As far as I know, there is currently no plan to add the support for the WDS feature on the AX1500.
While if you use the AX1500 as the main router, there is no requirement for the WDS feature, you can just enable the WDS feature on the secondary/older TP-Link unit.
Thanks for your understanding.

Using WR740-N as the bridged one (secondary) I set everything up and the status for WDS says "run" which means it is connected.
The problem is that I don't have internet on it.
Please suggest a course of action as from what I read WDS should be supported on both routers and currently this is not functioning as expected.

Hello,
What is the IP address you can get when connected to the WR740N network? If the IP address is assigned correctly from AX1500, try to do a ping test and see if you can ping the AX1500:
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/425/
However, if the IP address is assigned by the WR740N, you need to disable the DHCP on the WR740N in order to access the internet. You may refer to the below guide:

May it help.

I have done all the steps correctly, DHCP was disabled.
I do get internet from the LAN ports of the WR740N, which means the bridge is working, but I do not get internet from the wifi network of the
WR740N.
To that end I got an extender today - AC1200 RE305, which now has a problem with the Access control from the AX1500, which is to say that after adding
the 5ghz and 2,4ghz MACs to the whitelist the repeater does not connect.
I will open a separate topic for that as this is another issue altogether.

Hello, do you mean the devices connected to the WR740 wireless still cannot access the internet? How about the IP address on those devices? Can you ping the AX1500 gateway?
We will soon check the other issue related with the RE305, thanks a lot~

Yes, devices connected to the WR740 wireless still cannot access the internet but as I said connecting devices to the LAN ports of the WR740 works just fine.
I have will try pinging the gateway and get back to you, as I disconnected everything after getting the repeater.
